About Yoga at Well Nest with teacher Janis Hashe

Janis’ training has focused on classical yoga philosophy, which combines mind/body/spirit. Though she applauds the different forms of yoga now available to American students, her own teaching is classic hatha yoga, involving periods of rest between some poses, and allowing each student to progress at his or her own pace. We concentrate on the breath, and re-learning to breathe, and we concentrate on becoming more aware of your own body, and what it is trying to tell you.

Ease Into Yoga With Absolute Beginners

Are you one of the many people who’ve ventured into a “beginners” yoga class, only to find there are people there who can twist themselves into pretzels—so you never went back? Absolute Beginners might well be the class for you.

Well Nest services are designed to provide a one-stop shop for healing, insight, movement, and relaxation.

Designed by Well Nest yoga instructor Janis Hashe for those who have never tried yoga before (or been discouraged when they did), this is a gentle, one-hour class with an emphasis on breathing and stretching. You’ll find muscles and ligaments being gently stretched and released as your breath deepens and relaxes.

Janis is trained in traditional hatha yoga, which connects mind, body and spirit. She believes that yoga should be a personal journey for each practitioner, completely noncompetitive and completely supported by the instructor.

The first Absolute Beginners class is always free, so feel free to drop in and see if it’s for you. At Well Nest we offer two classes on Saturday mornings, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cost (after first class) is $7 per class, or $25 for a month.

And for those who are yoga veterans, coming back to basics is sometimes really helpful. As Zen Master Suzuki Roshi said, “In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities; in the expert’s mind there are few.”

Yoga has been of wonderful benefit to Janis over the years, physically, emotionally and spiritually, and she looks forward to being able to share what she has learned with visitors to the Well Nest. Janis says, “Much gratitude to Dr. Rick for the opportunity!” Dr. Rick says, “Absolute Beginners is fantastic ... even I can do it!” Namaste.

Meditation Classes At Well Nest Chattanooga At Well Nest, we meet you where you are ~ beginners are just great with us!
meditation classes

Also at Well Nest, Dr. Rick offers a series of GUIDED MEDITATION CLASSES, for those who may want to explore meditation for the first time, as well as for those who already practice meditating and wish to further expand their level of insight. These meditation classes are designed to:

1. Provide a safe and relaxed setting in which to make emotional, psychological and spiritual progress through one’s specific issues;
2. Help to develop coping skills for the everyday stresses of life;
3. Teach relaxation techniques which help in overall emotional and physical wellness;
4. Increase one’s ability to feel balanced, positive and hopeful;
5. Feel good!

This series of six Guided Meditation classes advances through the following areas of growth:
  • HEALTH, where we discover mind/body wellness and the "progressive relaxation," a technique used by individuals as well as in hospital settings and wellness centers
  • STRESS, which we learn to reduce through using Dr. Rick’s "Sailboat Visualization"
  • SPIRITUALITY, which is a journey to a Safe Place with a Sacred Inner Guide
  • SELF-ESTEEM, where we look at self-nurturance, the inner child and the inner parent
  • CHILDHOOD, which deals with the reparation of old, internal, emotional wounds which have a long history of causing difficulties well into adulthood
  • GRIEF & FORGIVENESS, where we go into the process of healing significant loss, and explore the concept of forgiveness
The meditation classes may be taken individually, or one may participate in the six-week series (which is recommended). For more information about dates, times, location, and when the next series of meditation classes will begin, contact Dr. Rick by e-mail or phone.
